Colombo
Colombo, Sri Lanka's bustling business
capital, is located on the country's west
coast and with a population of between
800,000 and one million (estimates vary) is
by far the country's biggest city. The city
is sometimes a jarring mix of old and new,
with a central cluster of high-rise office
blocks and hotels overshadowing red-tiled
colonial-era buildings. This part of the
tour will take you through Fort – the
largest commercial port in Sri Lanka, Pettah
– the best place for shopping bargains. You
will also visit a temple, mosque and the
Wolvendaal Church. For the avid shopper the
tour will take you to “Odel” and “Arena” -
both selling designer clothes at bargain
prices, and the Crescat Boulevard and
Majestic City shopping malls.

After
breakfast proceed to Kandy. En-route
visiting Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage.
Pinnawela
Elephant Orphanage
Home to some
60 or more elephant, Pinnawela is an
orphanage situated about 90Km from Colombo.
A place you will really enjoy and never
forget. Most of these elephants are
accustomed to human visitors and are
harmless. Bathing time at Maha Oya, in front
of the orphanage, is at 10.00am and 2.00pm.
Feeding time is about an hour earlier. The
orphanage now has the largest captive herd
of elephants in the entire world and
according to reports it has become the most
successful elephant breeding centre as well.
Thereafter leave for Kandy for a sight
seeing tour.
Afternoon visit the Udawatte Kele sanctuary.
Udawatte Kele
Sanctuary
Situated to
the north of the Kandy, this forest is about
257 acres in area and has a large variety of
birds and butterflies. This is an ideal
location to see some of the endemic birds of
Sri Lanka. The most often seen birds within
the sanctuary include the Yellow-fronted
Barbet, Layard's Parakeet, Hanging Bird,
Spot-winged thrush, Brown Fish-owl
flycatchers including Paradise, Asian Brown
and Tickell’s Blue, Forest Wagtails, Black
Bulbuls and Brown-capped Babblers.

After
breakfast visit the Peradeniya Botanical
Gardens and Temple of Tooth Relic.
Kandy
Classed as a
World Heritage City by UNESCO, nestling
among the misty hills in the central region
of the country, Kandy is undoubtedly one of
the most beautiful cities in the world. As
the shrine holding the sacred tooth relic of
the lord Buddha is situated in the heart of
the city, it's also the most venerated city
in Sri Lanka. Kandy was the last stronghold
of the Sinhala kings who's resistance
ultimately fell to the British in 1815.
Temple of
the Sacred Tooth Relic
'Sri Dalada
Maligawa' or Temple of the Sacred Tooth is
one of the main attractions in Kandy. This
is the centre of Kandy and the Sacred Tooth
of Budda is the heart of it. The Dalada
Maligawa is one of the most sacred Buddhist
temples' for Buddhists around the world.
Throughout history the sacred Tooth has been
guarded by kings - first in India (sixteen
centuries ago) and then moved from one
capital to another, always with the king.
Once you enter the temple you will see the
splendor with which it is decorated. Please
note that visitors are required to remove
any hats, caps, scarves or any form of head
gear. Also women are required to wear
suitable clothing.
Royal
Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya
The botanical
gardens date back to 1371 when King
Wickramabahu III ascended the thrown and
kept court at Peradeniya near the Mahaweli
river. However the present botanic gardens
at Peradeniya were established in 1821.
Occupying 146 acres, it has about 4,000
species of plants including palms, orchids,
gymnosperms and a great variety of beautiful
flowering plants.
Afterwards
proceed to Nuwara Eliya. En route visiting a
tea plantation and tea factory.

Excursion
to Uda Walawe Wildlife Park by Jeep.
Udawalawe
Udawalawe is a
recently established national park declared
with the intention of conserving the
catchments area of the reservoir that has
been extensively damaged for slash and burn
farming due to which very little forest
cover is left. The park is home to more than
250 Elephants as well as deer, leopards, the
red faced Malkoha and many other bird
species. At the center of the park is the
Uda Walawe tank crated by a 5 km dam on the
Walawe river.

After
breakfast proceed to Yala and jeep safari at
the Yala National park.
Yala
National Park
Covering an
area of about 1300 square kilometers, the
Yala national park is one of the oldest and
best known wildlife sanctuaries in Sri
Lanka. The park is home to almost 130
different species of animals including
elephants, spotted deer, leopards, monkeys,
crocodiles, wild boars, sloths and
porcupines. Yala is also rich in history -
there are archeological artifacts dating
back to 1 century BC. You will be taken on a
Jeep safari through the park.

Early
morning leave for Bundala Bird sanctuary.
Bundala is a
bird paradise with wild animals scattered
all over the park in their natural habitats.
Traveling to all places is through dense
jungle which certainly gives the traveler a
taste of real life on the planet.

Early
morning excursion to Singharaja forest.
Singharaja
Forest Reserve is the most famous rainforest
of the country. This tropical rain forest is
a living heritage. Bio diversity of the
forest is very high and a large proportion
of the flora in this forest is endemic to
the country and some endemic to the
Singharaja Forest itself. This is a very
good place to see lot of endemic birds such
as Ceylon Lorikeet Layard's parakeet, Jungle
and Spur Fowl, Ceylon Wood Pigeon, Grey
Hornbill, Spotted wing Thrush, Rufous and
Brown- capped Babbler, Ashy-headed Laughing
Thrush, Ceylon Blue Magpie, White Headed
Starling, Ceylon Hill Mynha, Legge's
Flowerpecker. The clear-cut roads in to the
jungle provide easy access to the forest.
This important forest is a Man and Biosphere
Forest reserve and it is considered as a
World Heritage Site
